About Our Department

LSU’s Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism treats a wide range of disorders and dysfunctions related to problems with the hormone-secreting endocrine glands including, but not limited to the thyroid, adrenal and pituitary glands. Our department specializes in caring for patients suffering from metabolic or lipid disorders, as well as those considered overweight or obese.

As patients with problems related to the endocrine glands tend to present a wide range of interrelated symptoms, syndromes, and diseases, our physicians often work with other departments to individualize treatment. Each year, our continued commitment to the Endocrine program allows us to offer comprehensive care and education to the New Orleans community.

Our staff is committed to the prevention, treatment, and cure of all forms of diabetes through exquisite patient care and advanced research. Our distinctive Transition Clinic aids young diabetic patients to responsibly manage their health in adulthood. Dr. Daniel Hsia is board certified in both pediatric and adult endocrinology. Dr. Hsia focuses his practice on adolescents who are transitioning their care from pediatric to adult endocrinology.
