About Our Department
Brand new to the medical field merely a century ago, today radiology has evolved into a high-tech practice of creating images of the body’s every detail. Radiology uses electromagnetic radiation, radioactive substances, and sound waves to create images of the body, its organs, and even its innermost structures for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of conditions.
While in the past concerns have been voiced regarding the potential harmful side effects of radiation, the medical field unanimously concludes that the information gained through radiologic tests outweighs the risks—as such detailed (not to mention noninvasive) insight into a patient’s body, internal organs, and structures would be impossible without this state-of-the-art technology.
Dedicated to providing the highest caliber of care, LSU Radiologists offer their services in an electronic, filmless environment, utilizing the most advanced technology to create the clearest image scans. Voice-recognition dictation and Picture Archiving & Communication System (PACS) are among the numerous technological innovations found in our department. Our commitment to radiological technology’s progress and evolution is evident in the clarity, speed, and accuracy of our results.
Paired with the field’s most advanced technology, our highly skilled imaging technologists (all registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiology and mammography and by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography in ultrasound) assist our expert radiologists in providing the highest quality care for our patients. We look forward to treating you with our compassionate approach to patient care in the most advanced facilities
